Monday 10/22 starts Red Ribbon Week, a nationwide week celebrating healthy, drug- free choices. Each day we dress to support the fun theme and promote a healthy, chemical-free life.

Town Halls and Safety lesson

Administration rescheduled the Town Hall meetings for 8/21 to the week of August 28th.

During the week of 8/28, Mrs. Holzum, Mrs. Lessem, and Mrs. Pinsky will be out of the office teaching in classrooms.  Counselors will be on-call on Monday to provide support as needed.  Tuesday-Friday, our school social worker Mrs. Campbell and one counselor (on a rotating basis) will be on-call for student emergencies.

During presentations this week, students will:

  • learn expectations for success during administration’s Town Hall meetings on Monday and Wednesday
  • meet their grade-level counselor during the Town Hall meetings
  • learn about safety and identify a school-based trusted person.  This will occur on a rotating basis during Science classes Tuesday – Friday from School Resource Officer (SRO Thompson) and the grade-level counselor.

During the week of 9/12, counselors will teach lessons to their grade level through social studies classes on a rotating basis.  The first lesson will address Bullying/Suicide Prevention –stay posted next week for parent resources and information.

Summer Info

Summer vacation lasts from May 27th to August 11th.

Registration Day is Tuesday, August 8th (more details to come later).

Students return to school on Monday August 14th.

Thursday:  Be a Smart JEAN-ius & Stand Up Against Bullying — Wear College Tee & Jeans

Friday:  Too Bright to Bully — Wear your favorite neon colors

Each day will feature a Victimproof video on how to respond to meanness and unkind words/actions.

National Random Acts Of Kindness Week

This week, we’re kicking off the kindness!!! Monday 2/9 is the first day of Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) week which is being celebrated all over the world from February 9-15.

Random Acts of Kindness week challenges us (students and staff) to go out of our way to help others or make another person’s day special, and not expect anything in return.
Let’s use this week to step out of our normal routine and attempt a new random act of kindness each day this week. We are collecting the following items for the SPCA:
SPCA Wish List
– Sheets, Towels, Blankets (Old or New)
– Garbage Bags (large and kitchen)
– Liquid Laundry Detergent
– Antibacterial Dish Soap
– Dog and Cat Food (canned or dried, any kind)
– Sturdy Rubber Chew Toys
– Soft, Squeaky Dog Toys
– Paper Towels
– Sanitizing Wipes
– Crates and Carriers: All Sizes, New or Gently Used

ZHS Night for 8th Grade Parents/Students

ATTENTION ALL 8TH GRADE STUDENTS & PARENTS:

ZHS will be holding a special night for 8th grade students and parents on Tuesday, March 3rd at 6:30 P.M.  This will be a great opportunity for 8th grade students and parents to tour ZHS and learn about all of the opportunities and choices students will have in high school.  Please mark your calendars and be sure to attend!  Additional details will be available soon!
