VictimProof

VictimProof is a school-wide, Tier I positive instruction for students.  A video from VictimProof is viewed each week to all students to teach all students how to break free from the victim mindset and to stand up to bullying using practical strategies to “be the change” on campus.  Created by Tom Thelen, one of America’s top anti-bullying speakers who has spoken thousands of schools, colleges, and youth organizations,VictimProof has been featured on PBS, CBS, The National Honor Society, and The National Association of Student Councils, AND Mr. Thelen will be speaking at RBSMS!!  Details coming soon!!

After the video, discussion questions help students personalize the lesson and learn new ways to cope with others.

#BeTheChangeAtRBSMS

Starting in September, every week our school students will learn strategies to handle unkind words and actions, becoming “victim-proof”.  This curriculum will empower students in their options for dealing with others and will encourage students to stand together as upstanders, instead of bystanders.  #pasco2gether

Studying via Brain Science

http://ww2.kqed.org/mindshift/2014/10/16/studying-with-quizzes-helps-make-sure-the-material-sticks/

What this article says is that when you study, testing yourself on an idea or concept you’re learning helps you remember it. Every time you remember something, a new connection is formed to new sensations and contexts. “The more things you have connected to the information, the easier it is to pull the material out, because lots of different ideas can lead you to that particular material”.  Studying in several different ways, making quizzes for yourself, using tools like quizlet.com, and reviewing Cornell notes are great ways to be sure that not only are you LEARNING the lesson material, but able to REMEMBER it during the test!
