Hello Everyone,
It was great meeting you last Tuesday for “Meet Your Teacher
Day” and if we have not met yet I look forward to meeting you. We’ll have a
Band Parent Meeting next Thursday. We’ll talk about the band program and make the big announcement for our Out-Of-State Band trip location!! We had a great turnout for band camp last week. If you
missed band camp don’t worry, we are going to have catchup sessions every Tuesday
and Thursday after school. Our first football game is coming up (second week of
school) and things will be moving fast. Keep an eye out for HHS Class Act Band emails for helpful information, and come to our meeting, August 14th at 7:00pm.
Thursday, August 14th from 1:45pm till 3:00pm–First Band Camp Catch Up session
If you missed band camp this is
your chance to catch up. We will hold these sessions every Tuesday and Thursday
right after school.
Thursday, August 14th from 4:00pm-6:30pm – FIRST AFTER SCHOOL REHEARSAL!!!
To avoid the dangerous afternoon heat our after-school practices/rehearsals are Mondays and Thursdays 4:00pm – 6:30pm. Students may stay in the band room after school to do homework or
practice. If transportation is an issue, please let me know and we will try to
find a ride. Our practices are part of the grade and are very important to our
band’s success. First game is August 22nd.
Thursday, August 14th 7:00pm–Band Parent Meeting
This will be a very important
meeting where you will learn about upcoming band events, be able to pay for all
needed band and guard items. Also, we will have 2 public notary there to stamp
your band participation form(attachment). Our band boosters will also let you
know how you can become a volunteer and help the band. It takes a village to
run band!
Items available for purchase at our Parent Meeting August 14th
You may pay by check, cash or credit card. We also have a
PayPal account to make payments, look for Hhsclassactband@gmail.com Make sure
to include the student’s name and items being purchased in the PayPal message
box.
Fair Share – $175 ($150 if paid in full by August 14th)
What is Fair Share? As its name implies,
it is your band/color guard member’s fair share of costs that are incurred for
halftime show design expenses, instructor expenses, dry cleaning of uniforms,
guard equipment, show props, band lunches, Uhaul truck, special transportation
etc. Our school district does supplement
some funds for bus transportation, and instruments repair but does not cover
all our expenses.
Marching Shoes – $33 dollars. For those incoming band members who do not
have band shoes and for those returning who may have outgrown their previous
band shoes. (This does not apply to any
band student who still fits in their previously purchased shoes.)
Marching Gloves – $10 dollars New gloves are required
each year and the members receive two (2) pairs. We switched gloves and these should hold up
much better.
Guard Costume Uniform – $50 This fee covers the cost
of the performance uniform for the year. This uniform will be worn at all
official events, including football games, competitions, and other scheduled
performances. These uniforms will become your own uniform to keep for life.
Guard Jazz Shoes- $26 For those incoming band members
who do not have band shoes and for those returning who may have outgrown their
previous band shoes. (This does not
apply to any band student who still fits in their previously purchased shoes.)
Show Shirt: $19.00 (S – XL) or $23.00 (2XL – 4XL) Show
shirts are part of our uniform and are required. FAMILY/GUARDIANS/FRIENDS are welcome to
purchase one as well. Since we are
selling these basically at cost, this is not a money-maker for us.
The next two items are optional purchases
Band Hoodie Pullover $45 or Zipper $55 We are
offering our classic Band hoodie as an optional purchase this season(only sold
every other year). Students can choose between a zip-up or pullover style. Each
hoodie will be embroidered with the student’s name and instrument, making it a
personalized and practical keepsake to show off your band pride.
HOT DAY $65 Students will perform with the HOT Band during
the USF vs SC State which will be televised on ESPN +. This memorable
experience includes admission and participation in the event. Chaperones will
be needed.
***Please let me know if you are struggling with financial
hardship. Arrangements can be made. I really believe money should not keep any
student away from performing with the Class Act Band. Music is healing,
comforting and good for the soul for everyone!
