Building reading stamina

Please have your child reading independently for at least 10 minutes at home and start building to 15 minutes over the next 2 months. After you have read the pattern they are on their own and then you can discuss the book when they are finished and move on to others. Please use the Bookshelf App or your take home books (baggie books) for independent reading. Reminder your bed time stories are always above their grade level.

Please be sure to have your child read nightly on Bookshelf to practice and to build their stamina. Practice power words and visit the math videos and skills on the math site, currently we are working on Chapter 11. You can also visit any of the resources on our page and use the weekly You Tube videos to keep your home school connection strong.

What should you do at home with your child?

10-15 minutes using the Bookshelf and having your student reading independently after they understand the pattern in each book.

You can also use your take home folder/baggie books throughout the week

5 minutes working on their power words

10-15 minutes working on math homework or reviewing the animated math models with Curious George and the math videos

and during the week use the You tube link to review what they are doing at school to make the home school connection.

If you need assistance finding and using any of the links mentioned above please do not hesitate to ask your child’s teacher.
