A Journey Into Outer Space!

Dear Future Cast Members and Parents/Guardians,

We are pleased to announce the 1st and 2nd Grade Musical Production! This year we will perform: Journey into Outer Space. We are very excited about presenting this show with our talented primary students! The show is scheduled for a performance on Wednesday, April 15th\ in the Longleaf cafeteria. We are thrilled that you have shown interest in being a part of this year’s musical.

In order to continue producing the high-quality productions that Longleaf Elementary has established, it is necessary that you adhere to the following rules and expectations. Please read this information carefully. Students and parents/guardians both need to sign the agreement page. If you are planning to audition, you must return the signed paper to Ms. Rodriguez by Friday, January 16th 2026 or bring it to your audition date. Auditions will be held as follows:

Students MUST attend all rehearsals for which they are scheduled! If the student has 3 unexcused absences, they will not be permitted to be in the show.  Rehearsals will take place Monday and Wednesday mornings at 8:30am beginning on Wednesday, January 21st. Students can miss a rehearsal if it is excused by a parent/guardian due to illness or an emergency only. Excused absences can be made for medical appointments, pre-show planned appointments, or other events. Please communicate with Ms. Rodriguez using the email address below when an absence is necessary or if unforeseen circumstances arise. Jazrodri@pasco.k12.fl.us

THE AUDITION PROCESS

All Auditions will occur in the week of January 12th– 16th during music class. For those absent from their music time, please email Ms. Rodriguez.

All students that wish to audition must turn in their musical audition packet by and no later than Friday, January 16th  to Ms. Rodriguez, or bring it to your audition date (be sure to look at your child’s enrichment schedule to confirm day and time). All interested students must audition!

• Each student will have an individual audition, meaning they will perform the script reading (monologue) and sing the audition song by themselves. The song does not have to be memorized. A copy of the monologue will be given to students. It is HIGHLY encouraged that the monologue is memorized so students can act more confidently.

Monologue: (context: newscaster finding out some unexpected news)

“BREAKING NEWS! I’m just hearing this now. This is big.

(holds ear piece)

You have got to be kidding me!

It’s a sad day for planets all over the solar system. Pluto is no longer a planet. It’s just too small.”

Song Lyrics and recording:

“Well they changed my name, and im no longer known as a planet. Ohhh

Whoa, but I’m not concerned, oh, I’m not gonna worry or panic ohhh

You can call me what ever you want

I’m gonna keep on movin’ around the sun.”
