“Hello Everyone!
Late last week every high school band director received the Pasco School District guidelines for band camps and I would like to share some adjustments we will need to make.
Our new schedule will be:
Percussion Camp
July 20 – 23 from 6:30pm – 8:30pm (football practice field 1, behind gym)
Guard Camp
July 20 – 23 from 6:30pm – 8:30pm (football practice field 2, behind baseball field)
Leadership Camp
July 23 from 6:30pm – 8:30pm (courtyard between gym and main campus)
July 24 from 9am – Noon (virtual through zoom)
Band Camp
July 27 – 30 from 6:30pm – 8:30pm (football practice field 1 and 2)
August 4 & 6 from 6:30pm – 8:30pm (football practice field 1 and 2)
Since we are really crunched for time this year please arrive around 6pm each day for a COVID 19 screening in the gym parking lot. We will check your temperature and look for any other symptoms. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 or higher or any other symptoms won’t be allowed to participate. Facemasks are encouraged when entering the band room to retrieve your instrument for rehearsal. We will stagger how many students go into the band room at a time.
All our rehearsals will be outside and facemasks are not required as long as everyone maintains a 6ft distance. No visitors are allowed.
As you can see our rehearsal times have been greatly shortened and I am confident our band is up to the challenge! We will learn our marching fundamentals, show music and put sets on the field. You can be ahead of the game by learning the halftime show music before camp. Email me to receive the music, cadams@pasco.k12.fl.us Focus mainly on Queen Opener and Bohemian Rhapsody. As time goes on I will upload more music and warm ups. Together we can do this!!
If you do not feel comfortable attending band camp, please email me. In these circumstances it is very understandable. Otherwise make sure to sign the DSBPC COVID 19 waver in the attachment and bring it to the first day of camp.
What to bring to camp
A signed DSBPC COVID 19 Waver
Your own water bottle (water fountains are not allowed to be used)
Your instrument (please email me if you will need an instrument)
Your show music with a lyre and flip folder
Insect repellent
What to wear
Comfortable broken-in pair of tennis shoes (no sandals)
Comfortable, lose fitting clothing (avoid jeans)
Very much looking forward to hearing the big sound of the ClassAct Band!!
Take care!
