Drug testing was passed as legal for public schools in June of 2002. In high school it is very common for an athlete to be involved in drug use. Some schools require drug testing to insure safety of their athletes. Drug testing should be allowed in schools so they can help student athletes stay healthy and avoid injury. When you smoke your lungs become weak and bones become fragile. According to The Lariat news paper of cooper city high school “Drugs negatively affect not only a teams performance, but its sense of team spirit and cohesiveness as well. In particular, drug use can cause effects on the morale of the team, lack of togetherness, concentration, commitment, energy and trust.” Drug use effects all mental and physical parts of the body. We should take care of our athletes and make sure they are on the right track to success.
