I am pleased to make two special announcements. This year we have a new part-time art teacher, Ms. Christine Calhoun, who will be here at CRES Wednesdays-Fridays. She comes to us with many years of art teaching experience through a cultural arts program. We are also excited to tell you that we will begin the year, once again, with our Square One Art fundraiser. These products make great gifts, and items ordered will be shipped to us in late November. More information to come!
Please note what day of the week your child has art class, and have them dress appropriately. You are welcome to send your child to school with a smock on art days. We hope to see you at Open House, where we will have information available about our curriculum, behavior expectations, and grading policies. All of this information is also posted on our Art Department website, which can be accessed through the CRES homepage.
Periodically throughout the year we will enlist the help of our Parent Involvement Coordinator and PTA to find volunteers to help in the art rooms! You will need to be a registered volunteer if you are interested.
Finally, we will let you know when our Parent Involvement dates are for first and second semester. Parents will be invited to join their child during art class to get a hands-on experience of what we do in art! Intermediate grade levels will have their date in first semester, and primary grades will have theirs in second semester.
Art Club will meet once a week on Thursday mornings before school. During the first semester, 5th grade members will be selected and meet weekly until winter break. After winter break, 4th grade members will be selected and will meet weekly until the end of the year. If you have a 5th grader interested in joining, see and print an Art Club Application from this website, or get one from Mrs. Parris. It is due to Mrs. Parris by September 16th. (4th graders will get information about Art Club sent home just prior to winter break.)
