Welcome Back from Winter Break!

Welcome Back from Winter Break!

Band and Chorus,

I hope you’ve all enjoyed your winter break and are ready to get back into it on Tuesday! Be sure to look over this post for some helpful reminders and updates.

*DATE UPDATE*
The MLK parade performance on January 19th is cancelled. Please update your calendars with us performing at the Chasco Parade on Saturday March 30th. This is only for marching band students.

Concert Bands
All students in concert band (Wind Ensemble and/or Symphonic Band) start after school practices the second week back from break (January 14-18th). Wind Ensemble rehearses on Tuesdays from 3-4:30pm and Symphonic Band rehearses on Thursdays from 3-4:30pm. Please make sure you have these in your calendar and attend your specific band’s rehearsals. Just a reminder that these are graded and are in preparation of our MPA performance in March.

Jazz Bands
All students in the jazz band (Jazz Ensemble 1 and/or Jazz Ensemble 2) start after school practices the second week back from break (January 14-18th). Jazz Ensemble 1 will rehearse on Monday January 14 from 2:30-4:30pm. Jazz Ensemble 2 will rehearse on Monday January 28 from 2:30-4:30pm. Both jazz groups will rehearse together on Monday February 4 from 2:30-4:30pm. Please make sure you attend the correct rehearsals as these are graded and in preparation for Jazz MPA on Thursday February 7th.

Chorus
You have your Solo and Ensemble performance on Tuesday January 15th starting at 5pm in the band room! Family and friends are welcome to attend. Be sure to dress appropriately (you may wear your chorus uniform or something similar) and be practicing. This event is graded as well. Our Chorus MPA is the first weekend of March, so be sure to work on your music for that performance too (Confitemini Domino and Cool Moon)!

Percussion
Make sure starting on Tuesday you have your own marimba mallets and snare sticks every day. If you have a financial situation that prevents you from owning your own pair, then your parent or guardian must email me so we can set up a loaner pair until you are able to get your own. I encourage you to get a drum pad as well so you have something similar to an actual drum to practice on at home and in class. Don’t forget to attend your rehearsals for your concert band starting in week two!

All Students
Starting Tuesday everyone should have a black binder or folder for their music as well as a pencil at all rehearsals/classes. This will help you find your music faster and prevents you from losing music, homework, handouts, etc. Also I will be out on Thursday and Friday (January 10-11) for my FMEA Conference. Make sure you do the work left for you these days, be productive, and be the responsible and respectful young adults I know you are for our guest teacher. I want to hear good things about each and every one of you when I come back.

See everyone on Tuesday!
-Mr. Mulder
