Johnathon Mulder, Director of Bands and Choir

Mr. Johnathon Mulder is entering his 2nd year of teaching at Land O’ Lakes High School and his 7th overall. Mr. Mulder began his teaching career in Polk County teaching band, orchestra, guitar, and mariachi band at McLaughlin Middle School and Fine Arts Academy and, most recently, at Kathleen Middle School in Lakeland. While at Kathleen, he rebuilt the band program from 22 students to over 120 band students and started the orchestra program. Throughout his time at Kathleen both programs increased enrollment and improved ratings. Most recently the band and orchestras received Superior and Excellent ratings at MPA. Mr. Mulder also served as Assistant Band Director to Kathleen High School during his time at Kathleen Middle School.

Mr. Mulder received his B.S. in Music Education from the University of South Florida, where he studied with Dr. John Carmichael, Dr. Matthew McCutchen, and trumpet professor Jay Coble. Mr. Mulder has taught as a brass and marching instructor at numerous middle and high schools throughout his time in college. He has also served as music and drill arranger for several high school marching bands throughout the state of Florida. Mr. Mulder performs professionally with the Florida Wind Band and with other various groups in the Tampa Bay area. Mr. Mulder is a member of NAfME (National Associaton for Music Education), Kappa Kappa Psi (National Honorary Band Fraternity), and FMEA (Florida Music Education Association).


Christine Goddard, Color Guard Instructor

Ms. Goddard is a pre-IB Spanish teacher at Land O’ Lakes High School, and works as the color guard instructor. She previously taught at Centennial Middle School where she also coached basketball and track. She is a graduate of Land O’ Lakes High School and the University of South Florida. Ms. Goddard competed with both the color guard and winter guard during her time as a student at LOLHS. She is passionate about dance and has taken jazz, lyrical, hip hop, modern and ballet classes. In college, she also danced salsa and bachata with the Latin dance club.


Thomas Dunne, Percussion Instructor

Mr. Dunne, has marched 2 seasons of WGI placing 2nd in state both years and 12th in Independent A Class at WGI World Finals (2013) with Bay Area Percussion as well as 5 seasons of Indoor Percussion Total, and 4 seasons of Marching Band with Land O’ Lakes High School. He has been a percussionist since he began music back at Pine View Middle School, under the direction of Mr. Steve Herring. With his passion for music pushing him to reach further, he has been part of a Local band called Stonegrey where he plays bass guitar, and travels to do what he loves!

Mr. Dunne’s teaching experience includes giving private percussion lessons and teaching Indoor Percussion at Warner University.
