Unit D

What Do I Need to Know About Ones and Tens to Use Strategies to Solve Facts Within 20?

Place Value:

Numbers, such as 64, have two digits. Each digit is a different place value.

The left digit is the tens’ place. It tells you that there are 6 tens.

Therefore, there are 6 sets of 10, plus 4 ones in the number 64.

The last or right digit is the ones’ place which is 4.
