{"id":17,"date":"2019-08-14T15:14:33","date_gmt":"2019-08-14T15:14:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/connect.pasco.k12.fl.us\/jmetzger\/?page_id=17"},"modified":"2021-11-09T13:14:05","modified_gmt":"2021-11-09T13:14:05","slug":"ncaa-vs-naia","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/connectplus.pasco.k12.fl.us\/asimons\/ncaa-vs-naia\/","title":{"rendered":"NCAA vs. NAIA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>NCAA vs. NAIA &#8211; What&#8217;s the difference?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>NCAA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Colleges and universities belong to different sports divisions depending on size, affiliation, etc.\u00a0 This means that prospective student-athletes must often meet certain GPA and test score requirements in order to play at those schools.\u00a0 This is especially the case for NCAA Division I and II sports, even though the NCAA does have Division III affiliated colleges as well.\u00a0 Students interested in playing at a Division I and II college must register with the NCAA, preferably by the end of their junior year or at least by the beginning of their senior year, if they wish to become eligible for and hope to be offered a position to play sports at these colleges.\u00a0 Students should visit the <a title=\"NCAA Eligibility Center\" href=\"http:\/\/www.eligibilitycenter.org\">NCAA Eligibility Center<\/a> to register and become informed of the requirements for Division I and II athletics, as well as the rights and responsibilities of both them as prospective student-athletes and the college coaches that may draft them.\u00a0 Below is a PDF of the current NCAA Division I\/II Quick Reference Sheet.\u00a0 Please visit the <a title=\"NCAA Eligibility Center\" href=\"http:\/\/www.eligibilitycenter.org\">NCAA Eligibility Center<\/a> for more details including access to the Guide for the College-Bound Student-Athlete!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/fs.ncaa.org\/Docs\/eligibility_center\/Student_Resources\/CBSA.pdf\">2021-2022 NCAA Guide for the College Bound Student Athlete<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>NAIA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/play.mynaia.org\/\">NAIA <\/a>is a college sports division that many smaller or private colleges are affiliated with.\u00a0 This division has its own member colleges and its own eligibility center.\u00a0 The <a href=\"https:\/\/play.mynaia.org\/\">NAIA<\/a> organization link is provided here, in order that prospective student-athletes can view the member colleges and determine whether those colleges may be a better or the best choice for that prospective student-athlete to play and study!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/connectplus.pasco.k12.fl.us\/asimons\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/naia_guide_college_bound_student.pdf\">NAIA_Guide_for the College_Bound_Student<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NCAA vs. NAIA &#8211; What&#8217;s the difference?
