Erase The Hate 2018

January 16-19, 2018 is RBSMS’  Annual Erase The Hate week.  Most classrooms decorated their doors for the Door-Decorating contest where they post messages of diversity and acceptance for others.  6th, 7th, and 8th grade ounselors will be in all lunches for activities and for Friday’s Mix-It-Up Day.

Town Halls, Safety, Class Lessons

During the week of 8/21, Mrs. Holzum, Mrs. Lessem, and Mrs. Pinsky will be out of the office teaching in classrooms.  Counselors will be on-call on Monday to provide support as needed.  Tuesday-Friday, our school social worker Mrs. Campbell and one counselor (on a rotating basis) will be on-call for student emergencies.

During presentations this week, students will:

  • learn expectations for success during administration’s Town Hall meetings on Monday and Tuesday
  • meet their grade-level counselor during the Town Hall meetings
  • learn about safety and identify a school-based trusted person.  This will occur on a rotating basis during Science classes Tuesday – Friday from School Resource Officer (SRO Thompson) and the grade-level counselor.

Next week (8/28-9/1), counselors will teach lessons to their grade level through social studies classes on a rotating basis.  The first lesson will address Bullying/Suicide Prevention –stay posted next week for parent resources and information.


From January 23-27, 2017, RBSMS is participating in the national Great Kindness Challenge.  Students have a list of kind acts they can perform on- and off-campus and can submit the list for prizes at the end of the week.  Staff can initial acts they witness, or students can take selfies and post to RBSMS Facebook (@RBSMS) or to Twitter (@rbstewartms) using the hashtag #greatkindnesschallenge   We’re so excited to see the positive effects of kindness!

2016 Erase The Hate Week

From Monday 11/28 – Friday 12/2, we celebrate our 5th annual Erase The Hate week, which promotes appreciating each person’s uniqueness and celebrating our rich diversity, regardless of backgrounds, race, religion, orientation or other differences.  Morning news will feature messages of acceptance and appreciation for differences.  On 12/1,  all lunches will have the activity” I Won’t Stand For ____” and, on 12/2, Mix-It Up At Lunch.
