{"id":408,"date":"2016-12-09T08:30:33","date_gmt":"2016-12-09T13:30:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/connect.pasco.k12.fl.us\/ahs-counselorscorner\/?page_id=408"},"modified":"2021-12-09T20:43:51","modified_gmt":"2021-12-09T20:43:51","slug":"bullying-prevention","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/connectplus.pasco.k12.fl.us\/ahs-counselorscorner\/bullying-prevention\/","title":{"rendered":"Bullying Prevention"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you or someone you know is being bullied at school or online, you should immediately tell\u00a0a trusted adult, such as a teacher, coach, school counselor, or Assistant Principal. \u00a0If you don\u2019t tell anyone, we cannot help.\u00a0You might feel scared or embarrassed about asking for help and that\u2019s okay, but\u00a0you should know that we are highly trained in dealing with situations such as this.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div><\/div>\n<hr size=\"10\" \/>\n<div>How to tell a trusted adult:<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Go to the office of the adult you would like to talk to, such as a counselor:<\/li>\n<li>Mr. Cannon 3-116<\/li>\n<li>Ms. Donovan 3-127<\/li>\n<li>Ms.Sparks 3-154<\/li>\n<li>Ms.Maertin 4-117<\/li>\n<li>Mr. Hand\u00a0 4-151<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Stop one of us in the hallway and tell us you need to talk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Call Anclote\u2019s main number, 727-246-3000, and ask to speak to a school counselor or assistant principal, be sure to leave a detailed voicemail so we can get back to you as soon as possible<\/li>\n<li>If we are out of our office, write a note and place it in one of our mailboxes or slide it under our office door<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Not sure if what you are seeing or experiencing is Bullying or Harassment? Know the difference :\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pasco.k12.fl.us\/ssps\/stop_bullying\/\">http:\/\/www.pasco.k12.fl.us\/ssps\/stop_bullying\/<\/a><\/p>\n<hr size=\"10\" \/>\n<div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div>If you witness somebody being bullied, be more than a bystander.\u00a0The following are ways you can help the person being bullied to get away from the situation:<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Create a distraction. \u00a0If no one is rewarding the person who is bullying by paying attention, the behavior may stop. \u00a0Bystanders can help to focus the attention on something else<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A bystander can offer a way for the person being bullied to leave the scene by saying something like, \u201cMr. Smith needs to see you right now,\u201d or \u201cCome on, we need you for our game\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Only intervene if it feels safe to do so, and never use violence in order to help the person get away<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Let a teacher, school counselor, and\/or administrator know a.s.a.p. (you can remain anonymous)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>If one of your friends or peers begins to bully someone, you shouldn\u2019t encourage the behavior by giving it an audience. Instead of laughing or supporting, you can let the bully know that his or her behavior isn\u2019t entertaining.<\/p>\n<hr size=\"10\" \/>\n<p>We take bullying very seriously and it will not be tolerated. Every report we receive will be investigated. Depending on the nature of the situation, consequences for students who bully others range from loss of privileges up to expulsion and\/or criminal charges.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Pasco County Schools allows parents and students to fill out a bullying complaint report online.
