Scholarship Websites

In addition to the specific opportunities that we report on Scholarship Central throughout the year, there are MANY excellent websites you can use to search for scholarships yourself. REMEMBER – scholarships rarely find YOU. You have to seek them out…and actually apply! =)

Here’s a list of some great sites you can use to find more award opportunities:

https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/types/grants-scholarships/finding-scholarships : A website geared at helping with scholarship searches.

http://www.scholarshipexperts.com/: a new addition to this page – FREE access to billions of dollars in scholarships. Free to use, with a tailored matching process to recommend scholarships that fit your needs.

The cost of going to college can be…well, A LOT…but if your family has true financial need, and you are a high-achieving student, you should check out QuestBridge. They offer scholarship opportunities to JUNIORS AND SENIORS! And when I say “scholarship,” I’m not talking about $250. I mean FULL FOUR-YEAR SCHOLARSHIPS WITH NO LOANS. And we’re not talking about slouch schools either…how about Dartmouth, MIT, Yale, Penn, and Notre Dame, just as examples? For applications and LOTS more information, go to http://www.questbridge.org/.

The American Legion has a great resource for financial assistance after high school – it’s called Need A Lift? It’s an overview of types of aid, how to apply and more…there’s even info on how to research colleges and career options.

http://www.fastweb.com/: Just create a profile, and you will receive regular email updates informing you of new scholarships!

http://www.scholarships.com/: This site is a key resource featuring a wealth of financial aid information and free scholarship searches.

http://apps.collegeboard.org/cbsearch_ss/welcome.jsp: Home of the SAT, this site also offers scholarship searching along with college searching based on major, location, cost and more.

http://www.scholarships4students.com/: HUNDREDS of scholarships, including a feature to narrow down your options by type.

http://www.finaid.org/: A fantastic resource for traditional scholarships and…not-so-traditional scholarships, like left-handed awards! Check it out today!

http://www.floridastudentfinancialaid.org/ssfad/bf/: Home of the Bright Futures Scholarship Program! Starting October 1, you can apply for Bright Futures. Be sure to apply EARLY!!! While you’re waiting to apply, you can check your eligibility status by reviewing your info on the Florida Shines .

http://www.collegeconfidential.com/: Here you’ll find hundreds of pages of articles about choosing a college, getting into the college you want, how to pay for it, and much more. You’ll also find the Web’s busiest discussion community related to college admissions.
