High Impact Instruction

Teachers deliver lessons that are aligned to the rigor of the standards, reflect the instructional shifts in ELA and math.

  • A literacy block comprised of: complex text with teacher scaffolding, daily systematic phonics instruction, and print/digital text to build vocabulary and knowledge for writing.
  • A math block comprised of: math fluency activities, concept development lessons with application, and a student debrief session.
  • Intentional planning for all student learning experiences matched to the rigor of the standards.
  • Efficiently conference with students regarding reading power goals.
  • A monitoring system utilizing School Pace will be developed and implemented to ensure our target of .1 years of growth for on grade level readers and .15 or .2 years of growth for at-risk students is being achieved.

Data Driven Decisions

School uses a system that collects and organizes data to monitor proficiency of instructional practices as related to the Instructional Practice Guide, Core Action 2 and growth over time for all students matched to the rigor of the standards.

  • PLC’s will use grade level data to plan for instruction.
  • Students will engage in grade level texts based on standards driver questioning and tasks (refer to text structure, cite text evidence, and understand vocabulary).
  • Teachers will engage in Professional Development that deepens their knowledge base on Core Action 2.
  • Rigor Walks focusing on Core Action 2 will be implemented, a data collection system will be utilized to monitor progress and determine future focus areas.

Collaborative Culture

School leaders establish and monitor culture of collaboration, engagement and communication through PLC and MTSS infrastructures, to include celebration and collaboration with students, families, and community.

  • Master schedule will reflect protected extended PLC time.
  • Intentionally planned team building activities.
  • PLC facilitators will encourage collaboration and facilitate conversation around staff engagement.
  • Celebrate students and staff on an on-going basis.
