High Impact Instruction

All teachers will incorporate literacy strategies in their content areas while increasing student engagement and ensuring they are aligned to the rigor of the standards.

  • All teachers will utilize close and careful reading, disciplinary literacy and AVID strategies on a regular basis.
  • Lessons will be created that integrate technology, utilize the entire class period, and are highly engaging to the students.
  • Intentional planning for all student learning experiences will meet the rigor of the standards.

Collaborative Culture

Teachers work together through PLC’s and grade level meetings to ensure students are receiving the interventions they need to be successful and know the adults care about them as individuals.

  • Establish daily homeroom periods with small groups of students that will stay with this teacher for their entire high school career in order to ensure each student has an adult advocate they know cares about them.
  • Grade level meetings that review the progress of the lowest 35% of students and what interventions are being utilized to ensure their success.
  • PLC’s will be established with common goals to answer the guiding questions while understanding why they are doing it.

Data Focused Decisions

Student Early Warning System data will be monitored to ensure steps are taken to improve student success.

  • Attendance and tardy policies and procedures will be revised to help increase student time in class and to utilize the student services team and others for additional support.
  • Student assignment completion will be monitored to ensure students are completing their work and a Zeros Aren’t Permitted (ZAP) system will be in place to help safeguard against non-completion of work.
  • On-going formative assessment data, along with data from course grades and quarterlies, will be utilized for instructional decisions to ensure academic success.
