If you have a student in band, then you are a Band parent. Band parents are the backbone of the band. They fill volunteer roles, encourage the students, attend the performances to cheer the band on, travel with the band and act as chaperones, work with the Band Director and staff, and generally do whatever needs to be done to support the Land O’ Lakes High School Band program. As a Band parent, we encourage you to volunteer and get involved.
This band, like all high school bands, doesn’t go anywhere without the support of its Band parents. We need each one of you to make the high school band experience all that it can be for your student and for every member of the band.
To be a volunteer in the Pasco County School District you must fill out the form every year. Complete the form below to become an approved volunteer with our school.
Pasco County School District Volunteer Form
Volunteer Roles and their descriptions are below.
Chaperones – Chaperones ride with the band on the buses to away games, competitions, and performance. They are responsible for helping to get the band from one place to another on time and for supervising the students.
Uniforms – Uniforms need mending, cleaning, and maintaining. If you can sew or help manage the uniform inventory and fitting, please volunteer.
Band Camp – We will need volunteers to help with providing the students with water, managing the cool down tent, and assisting with various tasks to help get the year started.
Pit Crew – Think of this job as the “Roadies” for the band. The Pit Crew loads and unloads the truck, gets equipment on and off the field for marching band, and moves equipment for rehearsals and performances.
Towing the Trailer – If you have a truck and can help tow our trailer to games or events, a form and inspection must be done every year. For more info, please visit http://www.pasco.k12.fl.us/transportation/safedriver/.
Sponsorship/Donations – We need help getting businesses and the community behind the band this year. We need creative and committed people to drum up support for our program. The band is always in need of water, snacks, and basic office supplies (copy paper, ink, tissues, etc.).
