Media Release Information

Lights, Camera, Action?

As of May 2012 and the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year, the District School Board of Pasco County implemented a new policy regarding the release of certain directory information. This policy involves the release of your child’s: “directory information”, certain recognitions, honors, and awards, and media including photographs, videos, and audio recordings to local news organizations. The new policy also relates to the use of such student information in: school and District related websites, District-sponsored publications, school or public functions, and the school yearbook.

Please carefully review the Pasco County Schools “Media Release Non Consent Form Letter” explaining the changes and your options as a parent regarding the release of this information involving your child. If you feel you do NOT want this type of information regarding your child released you must submit an “MIS 667 Rev 0512: Media Release Non-Consent Form” to Liz Luna in the front office. Non-consent is only valid for one year; therefore, a new form should be completed at the beginning of each school year.

The District School Board of Pasco County and Crews Lake Middle School abide by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, commonly referred to as FERPA. A brochure regarding FERPA and your rights as a parent, student, and receiving school can be viewed at: FERPA Public Notice Brochure
