Friday, October 5 – World Smile Day
Sometimes all it takes to make the day better is a smile! World Smile Day encourages us to take action to bring a few more smiles into the world. World Smile Day is celebrated on the first Friday in the month of October every year. The idea of was initiated by Harvey Ball, a commercial artist from Worcester, Massachusetts also known as the creator of the Smiley Face in 1963. The World’s first World Smile Day was held in the year 1999 and has been held annually since.On Friday, October 5th. We will be celebrating World Smile Day by offering the NEW emoticon potatoes on the lunch menu for all schools as a vegetable option. We will also be doing a contest with students to encourage them to show us their best emoji face.
How to enter:
Step 1: Take a picture of your best emoji face.
Step 2: Post on social media.
Step 3: Tag us in the photo/post.

One student picture will be selected from each grade level (elementary, middle, high) and each winner will receive a $25 dollar gift card.
This will be the only time the emoticon potatoes will be offered on the school lunch menu. After October 5th, students will only be able to purchase these new emoticon potatoes a la carte.
