Students just can’t get enough of a good thing! HMS DELTA Academy is doing amazing things with academic/enrichment activities and students are telling their friends. With recent staff bringing fresh ideas and excitement to the program in a unique and fun manner, students are experiencing project-based learning in a whole new way! HMS DELTA Academy is led by the brilliant team of Zac Scott, Site Coordinator and Maria Diaz, Assistant Site Coordinator. Rhonda Starr-Odajewski is a veteran teacher at HMS that also serves in an additional duty role to bring even more flare and spice to lessons within the DELTA program. The three work together to create a comfortable, warm environment that delivers creative and engaging lessons in Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math (STEM). Most recently, the group received an excellent evaluation as students participated in rocket design, explored microscopic specimens, and worked to code and design components of a video game, just to name a few. There is no wonder as to why students keep coming back for more! They have so much fun without even realizing that they are learning along the way. We can’t wait to see what HMS DELTA Academy will be up to for their Summer DELTA Program! A few open spots are still available, but going fast…Stop by and check it out! You will be amazed. 😊 ... DELTA Academy is joining with the National AfterSchool Association to celebrate the professionals that are at the heart of afterschool programs during "Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week" April 23-27, 2018.
We are joining the effort because we believe Afterschool professionals make a difference in the lives of young people. We encourage you to join us in thanking the afterschool professionals in your life. Here are some ideas on how you can show your appreciation:
• Declare on social media: "I believe Afterschool professionals make a difference in the lives of young people. #heartofafterschool" • Give a hand-written card from you and/or your child to the afterschool professional in your life. • Send an email to an afterschool professional's supervisor describing why that person is appreciated. • Make treats for the staff at your afterschool program. For more resources and information check out www.heartofafterschool.com. ...
